This small movie abstracts the essence of Market Square, Nottingham. It reproduces the speedy day- to-day movements of people and traffic within the square, and demonstrates the sensual experience of being in the space over a long period of time. In the centre of this is familiar place is the alien enclosure (small scale model shown on right) that depicts a virtual journey from the noisy, public, polluted urban square to a leafy private garden located just beyond market square, but unknown to the public at large. By evoking a sensual experience of the private garden through a series of images, sounds and smells the participant gains a heighten sense of awareness not only of the garden, but of Market Square itelf.
